Deuteronomy 5:16
16 ‘Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
Honor your mother and father that your days may be increased. Your days will be extended and worthwhile when you honor your mother and father. God established an order from the very beginning so that His children will be blessed. Furthermore, God placed parents in our life to help guide us into those blessings. Parents are so important and it is imperative that we honor them. Father’s Day is such a significant holiday! It is the day we recognize, respect, and bestow honor on the men in our lives. We remember them for their love, correction, discipline, protection, and provision. We honor and thank them for being the head of the household and keeping it all together. When we honor our fathers, we honor God. It is even more honorable when we honor our spiritual leaders. The word of God instructs us to bestow double honor upon them because they are constantly pouring out. They pray for us and they teach us the principles of God! They also bring you into a level of intimacy with God.
Unfortunately, honor and respect for fathers have left our community. The thief has tricked a lot of people into devaluing the role of the father. But today I say to you, do not be deceived by the tricks of the enemy. God honors Honor. It is the key that unlocks the treasures of heaven. I pray that you will allow the Holy Spirit to teach you about honor, there is no harm in it and it will bless you. Remember to show your appreciation to the father figures in your life, they need your love and support!
