7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.
Who is present in your life that you deem to be greater than yourself? The average person doesn’t deem anyone to be greater than themself and they sometimes fail to respect authority and/or leadership. It is important to have Godly models in your life to guide you in the principles of God. It is easier to believe one will find the answers to life in materialistic possessions and a “good” job. But the truth about a job is that it will only take you so far because of limitations. A job does not pay you to use the creative side God has given you. A job pays you to work within guidelines. Now a career is a little different; you have more creative ability based on the trade and skills you studied in school but there are still limitations. I want you to have an understanding that there is a creative side to you. God created you to be a creator and He’s put people in place to show you how to work the gifts within you. The dilemma is that majority of people now days won’t submit to leadership and godly authority.
If we’re not careful life’s purpose can become the seeking of attention. How many times have you tried to impress other people with your achievements, what you feel or think, with what you drive, with your career title, with your position, or even with titles in church? We’ve all been there. But at the end of the day, many of us are still unfulfilled because we fall short in our faith and we don’t honor God. It is impossible to honor God correctly without models to show us how. This is what Jesus did, He came to teach us how to glorify The Father, how to walk by faith, and how to speak things into existence. He was there to show us that we have the power to do the impossible as we trust God. However, we have to have somebody in front of us that we have seen trust God based upon their actions and lifestyle.
In Hebrews 13:7 it says “to remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith (NIV)”. Love and respect everybody in your life but look at the outcome of their life so you can be wise about who you choose to follow. If you can see what God has done for them according to their faith; you can imagine what God can do for you. When you walk with a man or woman of faith all you must do is follow suit. Pay attention to the models God has given you. Whatever God has done for your leaders, He wants to do for you but He needs your participation. Value the possibility that He can do more for you than you can do for yourself!
